John Avery has reserved a room for the NCGP Fall gathering at UNC-Charlotte on November 10, 2007. Alan, Ken, Nick and Kathryn will line up breakfast food for the gathering.
Alan reported that Jan Martell says that the NCGP has about 3,000 unvetted ballot access petition signatures to send in to the various county BOE’s. The deadline for verifying signatures is May 15, 2008. There is some confusion among CAGP members as to what laws are actually in effect at this point, but the NC SBOE seems to be operating under the assumption that third parties still need to get about 70,000 signatures to get on the ballot.
Kathryn and Alan reported that they turned in the written comments from Kathryn and Ken at the Forest City hearing before the Division of Air Quality concerning the proposed Cliffside power plant, but that no one from the CAGP (Harry Phillips attended also) was able to stay late enough to make an oral presentation, as there were more than 100 persons signed up to speak.
The following bylaws proposal passed unanimously:
(to replace D. Decision-making On-line)
D. Decision-making between meetings
The CAGP Coordinating Committee can make decisions on behalf of the CAGP in between quarterly meetings, except when the decision requires a quorum as set forth in Section VIII B. One of the clerks will announce to the general membership any such decision while it is under consideration and will inform members of what final decision is made. Decisions made by the CAGP CC between regular meetings can be overturned at a subsequent quarterly meeting.
Tom Bowers was elected as co-coordinator to fill the position in which Alan had been temporarily serving.
The next meeting will be 1/12/08 at 2 PM at 1528 Thomas Avenue, Charlotte.
