Minutes of October 14, 2006 CAGP Quarterly Meeting
I. Attendance
Members: Alan Burns, Len Clemmer, Ken Davies, Gregg Jocoy, Kathryn Kuppers, Brian Staton, Gene Stewart, Nick Triplett, Susan Triplett.
1. Alan Burns reported that the CAGP has
2. Gregg and Nick agreed to form a committee to study ways to investigate and challenge Duke Power’s influence of media coverage in the Charlotte area.
3. In evaluating the September 30 Impeachment Rally, members suggested: that the CAGP should have had tables at more than one location, including one closer to the stage; that the event could have been shortened; that a program with a schedule for speakers would have been helpful. Everyone agreed that overall the event was an amazing accomplishment for the CAGP and that Brian and Ken deserved most of the credit for its success. The outrageous lack of media coverage of the event was once again a disappointment.
4. Members voted 8 yeah, 1 abstention, to replace the Dirty South Revolutionaries video on the CAGP website with video of the South Side Punx, but to maintain the Utube link for the entire footage of the rally.
5. Kathryn asked for an informal vote on the proposed NCGP membership changes that would mandate that all NCGP affiliated locals collect their membership dues in the same way. Each affiliated local would collect an amount (set by the NCGP) which would count as both state and local dues. Most of the dues would be retained by the local, but a certain percentage would be sent to the NCGP treasurer quarterly. Because the NCGP has to allow for dues waivers to remain affiliated with the GPUS, locals would be required to offer dues waivers also, upon request. The vote was 5 against the proposed changes, 3 abstentions (including one CAGP member who is not eligible to be an NCGP member b/c he resides in SC), and 1 in favor.
6. The November 4 stream cleanup will start at 9 AM at the St. Mary’s Chapel parking lot.
