Minutes of CAGP Quarterly Meeting, July 28, 2007

Attending: John Avery, Tom Bowers, Deanna Bridgwood, Alan Burns, Kathryn Kuppers, Leonard Stern, Nick Triplett, Susan Triplett (quorum)

Treasurer reported that the CAGP has a little more than $200 with a $50 check to deposit and $146 owed for t-shirts.

The next stream clean-up was set for October 27, 2007 from 10 Am til 2 PM. Participants will meet at the Vietnam Memorial between 3rd and 4th Streets in the parking lot next to St. Mary's Chapel.

There was unanimous approval of the application for the NCGP matching grant, using Budget A that Kathryn had sent out by email, to cover one half of the expenses for the Labor Day Parade, which will take place on September 3 in downtown Charlotte.

The NCGPCC is considering co-sponsoring a proposal that the GPUS choose a serious, nationally-known presidential candidate who will run a serious campaign and help states gain or retain ballot access in the process. Most CAGP members present agreed that a high-profile candidate who can help states with ballot access would be a good idea.

Alan Burns and Bill Glass presented app. 550 petition signatures to Mayor McCrory at the last public City Council meeting, urging the mayor to sign onto the Mayor's Climate Protection Pledge. The mayor's response was vague and dismissive.

The CAGP will table at the Dilworth Festival in Latta Park in Charlotte on October 20.
