Minutes of July 15, 2006 CAGP Quarterly Meeting


I. Attendance

Members: Tom Bowers, Alan Burns, Len Clemmer, Maggie Davis, David Dixon, Diane Frederick, Kathryn Kuppers, Michael Sharpe, Brian Staton, Nicholas Triplette, Susan Triplett.

Guests: Tanja Franke, Hart Matthews, Gloria Peppers, Derrick Rehn, Rob Sharpe, Jan Snead, Gene Stewart.

II. PRIDE event

a. Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Gateway Pavilion

III. Labor Day Parade, September 4, 2006

a. CAGP to march
b. Banners and signs can promote political candidates, but not divisive issues, except as relate to labor

IV. Stream clean-up scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4, at 9:30 a.m. (Little Sugar Creek)

VI. Criteria for endorsement of candidates by CAGP approved as follows:

1. Candidate (C) accepts in principle the 10KV and would go on record as in favor of ballot access by signing petition. CLICK HERE!
2. C would accept on his/her election web site a statement acknowledging their broad agreement with the GP’s 10 KV and a link to the CAGP page where we endorse his/her election.
3. C would recognize the CAGP at any event where CAGP members are present in support.
4. The CAGP would canvass / hand out our Green party endorsement ballot at polling places. Canvassers would be allowed to wear CAGP t-shirts and call attention to the fact of being GP members with mention of C’s agreement with our values. At any polling stations on election day, any material urging a vote for the C would incorporate acknowledgment of the GP and its 10 KV with the C’s blessing.
5. We would have a Green party endorsement ballot at our CAGP tabling events. If possible, but not obligatory, C would be present at CAGP tabling events prior to the election.

VII. Candidate Training School

a. National Green Party bringing candidate training school to Charlotte, Nov. 18-19
b. Local and NCGP will need fundraising and financing
c. Regional, SE event

VIII. Hart Matthews, Director of NCGP

a. Visiting all area green parties to help grow Green Party
b. Working on ballot access, summer-long campaign
c. Joined Libertarians and ACLU in lawsuit to pass bill to reduce # of signatures

IX. CAGP needs to apply for NCGP funding for $500 for Impeachment Rally (Kathryn)

X. Impeachment Rally Updates (Brian)

a. No-profanity policy approved
b .Bull-horn purchase approved
c. Speaker list presented and approved
