CHARLOTTE AREA GREEN PARTY July 11, 2009 MEETING
MINUTES
Attending:
Alan Burns, Kathryn Kuppers, Nick Triplett, Susan Triplett, John Neal,
George Friday, Len Clemmer, Wayne Turner, Mrs. Turner..
Ken report $353.12 in checking
account. $100 allocated to Kathryn for Labor Day Parade fee.
- Ken Davies Trial - Alan reported
that the trial would likely be delayed. Members should keep an eye on
the yahoo group for announcements about the trial.
- Charlotte Pride will be held on July
25th. Since many members will be Durham at the GPUS annual national
meeting, the CAGP is lloking for members who would be able to work the
table at this event.
- The GPUS annual national meeting
will be held in Durham on July 23-26. Wayne noted that there are 90+
registrants currently. He also gave us an update on the planning for
the event.
- Alan reports that GreenPeace has authorized the formation of a chapter in Charlotte.
- Nick reported that (according to
Samiron Dutta) there may be some potential Green candidates in upstate
SC in the near future. The CAGP election support center pledged to help
the candidates. Len Clemmer reported the potential of endorsing a city
council candidate who may be willing to espouse the 10 Key Values.
- The Labor Day Parade will be held
on September 7, 2009. All greens are invited to march. $100
allocated to Kathryn for parade.
- Alan reported that the NC Saves
Energy Bill faced strong opposition from Duke Energy and Progress
Energy and did not emerge from committee in the NC legislature
- Alan reported that the NC
Sustainable Energy Agency will be opening an office in Charlotte, and
is planning a local meeting in October.
Next CAGP quarterly meeting
tentatively scheduled for October 10, 2009 at 3 PM.
